Hey all, I'm at work! I am not suffering some new debilitating condition (except employment) or fatal disease (that I know of) yet, as some have asked. Nope, not in jail yet for something I wrote here either. Nor did I go back to flying in some overpaid job in SW Asia to rejoin all those ol' comrades who are still doing that! As I settle into the new job, I'll be writing again I suspect in time. But not yet.
I admit though, I find it hard not to sit down and start writing after hearing the risible Executive Branch and Legislative Branches bloviate. It is even harder after a day talking with or listening to the leadership in DoD. Sometimes one wants to simply point out that their "new idea fairy's plan" has been tried before and failed miserably a couple of times. On the other hand, many of the "new idea fairy" concepts are business opportunities for hungry contractors who cannot afford to show the DoD how to not waste their taxpayer dollars. All I can say, is that they are all so lucky that a lot of us did not end up back in government service or we'd really be shaking & rattling the system to fix what the new breed keeps discovering is broken! The new band-aids keep going onto the acquisition system and the main thing that fundamentally changes are the names of things. Am I the only one who sees the irony in all this??
For now, I gotta earn a buck, which means early to bed so I can be at the grindstone early each day. As long as they don't start using that Internet Kill Switch (for our own good and safety) that I understand both parties in Congress support, I'll be back.
